(2,322 posts)...it can't legally be given to another kid. It's like if you order something in a diner and you then say you don't want it, they can't give it to another customer. Food safety rules.
The original aim was to not give these kids the lunches at all. But they fucked up and it was too late. The kids already had their lunches. So. Choice #1let the kids eat the lunch, swallow the minimal loss of the cost of those lunches, and tomorrow give them fruit and milk instead if the parents still haven't paid up OR Choice #2take the lunches away and throw them out in front of everyone making yourself, the school system, etc. look like total assholes and making both parents, kids, cafeteria workers hate you.
Hmmm. Let me think about this.....
Either they hired an idiot, or they hired an asshole, or they hired someone who is too wimpy to make decisions and just stuck to the letter of the law (no money, no lunch). In any case, whoever made this decision should be fired.
