(37,549 posts)couldn't generate the votes for their candidates--and I remember this fight--we told 'em, told 'em there was NO WAY Joe Sestak was going to take PA. And sure enough, once it was Sestak and not Spector, the farthest Left could not get the votes out. Why? Because you can't excoriate the President for all his 'mistakes' and still motivate his base.
I will never, ever forget Sestak and his crew telling PA voters that even though the President wasn't doing what they wanted, HE was going to go to DC and be the big, bad, progressive that was going to light a fire under the President's feet. HE was going to be the progressive that fixed it all. Well, that was demotivational.
Guess what? Democrats stayed home because the message from the far Left was too negative. And we got Senator Toomey, in a landslide.
THANKFULLY, Elizabeth Warren's people paid heed to that. She did not run on the Debby Downer Democrat platform that promised to fix the President--she promised to fix the CONGRESS. Guess what??? She WON.
As a personal aside, I still worked my ass off to ensure people who came to polls were able to vote. I'd do that for any candidate.
