No, they haven't fucked themselves. The contractors are some of the same people who buy our elections:

If people think this issue will go away if and when we capture Snowden, they are terribly mistaken. This is going to fester domestically and internationally.

The US has made so many follies in my lifetime. Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan are only the biggest. Up till now, because this is the worst. This is an Empire buster. It's a scandal that pisses off the entire world at us. If there's one thing the rest of the world can be unified about now, it will be finding ways to screw us and cut us out of the loop.
