... to his idiot base believing him when he proclaims that the sky is pink with purple polkadots that when some one says, "Ummm, no it ain't", he loses his shit and orders them to be arrested, chopped into chum, and fed to the fishes. He always tests the limits of the inherent elasticity of truth.
