7. Alabama voter and Doug Jones donor here

I certainly hope so. I've been an Alabamian for 55 years and have seen this state decline steadily - and we started pretty low back in the 60s and 70s! I'll say this - it is tough to catch lightning in a bottle and it is exponentially harder to do it twice. Doug caught lightning when he beat Roy Moore. That was when Alabamians didn't like pedophiles. Tubby is a big, dumb, Trumpy jock who wants everyone to call him Coach. Want a maroon. But Tubby tells people that the damn liberals are evil and he will protect Alabama from far leftists. He tells us that there is no place in Alabama for Muslims or non-Christians. He tells us that Trump and he are one and the same.

Alabama hears that and LOVES it.

They feel that Doug is one of those damn woke Dems and he ain't a real christian like Coach. In November one head to head poll had Tubby up 19 points over Doug. I'm sure that margin has decreased but still a helluva climb.

I'll fight like hell for Doug and will continue to support him monetarily and with my vote. I just have no faith in the people of my state. We are a racist, misogynistic, xenophobic, scared state. We have a brain drain going on in the state as well which is taking blue votes away.

We have an estimated 55% of voters identifying as Republicans, 36% Dems, and 9% Independents. Even if all independents roll our way we would need an over 5% swing in republicans to move over to us - or have a lot of republicans stay at home.

I just can't see that second lightning strike getting caught but we will fight like hell to try to make it so.
