2. Diesel prices spiked MUCH more than gas, at least here in CA.

Compared to a month ago, which was within spitting distance of the year-long average, gas prices are up 26% (from $4.67 to $5.89, average across the state) while diesel is up 47% (from $5.15 to $7.56, average across the state).
