The problem for me is I also changed my first name legally (so that makes it even more complicated - my birth certificate is completely different from my current name). I always hated it and everyone always called me by my nickname, but that was a nominal filing fee only because I typed it up myself. Then the first marriage name change, and second marriage (thankfully did much better with second pick - we've been married nearly 25 years). I did have a career and only changed it because I thought it would be easier if we had children. Now I would advise young women to not change it at all. At least I have all the documentation and a current passport.
I am so sad at what has happened to this country
