1. My Nana (grandmother) said the same thing to my cousin and me when we were young kids

We had a book where we would choose words that came with the book to insert in certain spots in the story. One of them was "hate" and she told us that this was a word we shouldn't use. My Nana was born in 1900 and followed her father in voting for "the party of Lincoln," but she had a wake up call in time to vote for President Clinton - twice. I can't help wondering if she'd be okay with my cousin and me using that word today.
