In reply to the discussion: MTG was never honest about changing. She's still a liar for Chump. [View all]AverageOldGuy
(3,215 posts)One of the current Senators from Georgia is John Ossoff, Democrat, who was elected in 2020.
There were three candidates, none of whom earned a majority -- the Republican David Perdue had 49.7, Perdue 47.9, a third-part candidate had a few votes.
Ossoff beat Perdue in the runoff by a margin of 50.4 - 49.6.
Ossoff will be on the ballot in November 2026 and MTG plans to run for the Republican nomination so she can take on Ossoff.
I don't pay that much attention to Georgia politics, so, I don't know who the other Republican candidates may be.
Greene's attacks on Trump are an attempt to distance herself from him so he doesn't drag her down in Nov 2026.
Watching her dump Trump in favor of her own political future makes me wonder how many more Congressional Republicans will do the same -- Trump could find himself very lonely over the next few months as Congressional Republicans as well as Republicans in the states realize their future is not with him.
