I probably would have said something like:
The global risk of fascism is something that every free person everywhere should be concerned about. People tend to throw around some of these terms, like kids calling names in the schoolyard. But fascism is a very specific thing the world has seen over and over in the past century or so. That is a bigger subject than today's meeting, but I suggest people do a Google search for "The 14 defining characteristics of fascism".
The President is just one person, a person in a very important position, but just one person. Fascism requires a very organized effort in all 14 of these areas. And if one does an honest assessment, I think they must conclude that we are certainly at risk in all 14 of those areas.
I am not accusing the President of organizing these trends toward fascism, but it is happening, and I hope the President will join all of us who are Anti-Fascism to turn back these trends in the USA and elsewhere.
