18. Good Riddance Dick Cheney

There once was a man named Dick C.,
Who fished with execs, merrily.
From Canada’s streams,
He rose to his dreams—
CEO for a nominal fee!

He claimed he was serving the state,
But $44 mil ain’t so great.
When Halliburton paid,
He called it fair trade—
That’s just how the powerful inflate.

He courted the Saudis with glee,
And whispered, “Let’s all make some spree.”
While sanctions applied,
His subsidiaries lied,
And Halliburton swam tax-free.

When Bush sought a partner to vet,
He asked Dick, “Who’s best we can get?”
Cheney said, “Me!”
And grinned wickedly—
The fix was so slick, you could bet.

Old Rummy came back for Defense,
Wolfowitz lurking—immense pretense.
They schemed and they planned,
With maps close at hand,
To sell war with profit and sense(less).

“WMDs!” Dick cried out with delight,
Though briefings had shown none in sight.
He went on TV,
Proclaiming with glee—
That fiction makes fear shine so bright!

When told the whole nation said “No,”
He smirked and just let his disdain show.
“So?” said the Veep,
As mothers would weep—
Empathy’s something he’d forgo.

He crafted the torture regime,
Where cruelty reigned supreme.
With secrecy tight,
He ruled out the light,
And justice became but a meme.

He spied and detained without care,
And power he’d never forswear.
Behind Bush’s grin,
Dick’s hand pulled the spin—
A puppet show cloaked in despair.
