Wherein the main thrust of my point was more political than technical. The only way AI could really make money at the scale of it's investment is if it can do really big things, and thus replace really large numbers of well-paying jobs. I should've made that more clear in the OP. But yeah, almost nothing about the physical part of the job can be replaced by AI. There will still need to be workers, and there's only so much AI would be able to do WRT to picking out the correct workers. There still needs to be contracting companies, who do most of the things you're talking about in your post. But there's still a LOT of stuff related to a task like this that an AI could do, if sufficiently advanced.

Lastly while it's right to say AI has no hands and feet, it most definitely can have 'eyes' at least in some sense.
