and how it got it's name......but after years in Retailing, in the 60's, 70's and even the 80' there wasn't anyone in retailing calling the day after thanksgiving..... Black Friday.....
It was created to hype the holiday, just like mother's day, father's day, valentines day, etc

As a non-religious person, my Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Xmas spending has been Zero $ for over 30+ years.
