My NJ county is a test run for 2026. [View all]

Passaic County. Usually cobalt blue but TSF made inroads last year. (However, I believe this cross-over was due to a lot of Muslim voters choosing Trump over Biden because of Gaza. I have faith they'll come back.)

The New Jersey Republicans made a request to Pam Bondi and the DOJ to "monitor" next week's elections for our county. No other county. Implying there is inherent corruption, which there isn't.

I'm a poll worker in a small town in Passaic County, with majority demographics of Latinos and Muslims. We are a tight-run group. We don't deny any person the right to vote. What we do filter is voters who can vote on the machines. IOW, if the status of a voter is questionable, we provide provisional ballots for that voter. The provisional ballots are strictly monitored, e.g., we count the original number before the polls open and we count each provisional ballot as well as the pristine ballots not used at the end of the night. The provisional ballots are put in a locked bag and usually delivered to the Board of Elections by police. The ballots are opened and registered by both Democrats and Republicans.

We already have registered poll monitors, except they're local. They have the right to protest any voter with whom they have suspicions, e.g., the voter has moved out of town and hasn't changed his/her driver's license.

Having DOJ monitors may be intimidating for some of our voters and may have a decided impact on those who wish to vote.

It's obvious that Trump and the DOJ want to see how much push-back our Board of Elections will give if they are challenged, esp. when there is either nothing or negligible to challenge.

I'll have more to say on November 5.
