(802 posts)The diving section is 20' deep, with two one meter boards, two three meter boards....a five meter platform and a ten meter platform.
The diving area is separated from the swimming area by a permanent bulkhead that goes down about six feet. That is where the starting blocks are for races......when you finish your race, you just swim under the bulkhead and surface in the diving section. There is another moveable bulkhead in the swimming section. Depending on what kind of meet is taking place, it can go from 25yds, to 25meters, to 50 yds, to 50 meters. At 50 meters, the water depth is still 3.5 feet, with 10 yds more pool. The first 25 meters from the permanent bulkhead is 8 feet deep for water polo competition..There is room where you can go down to a wide underwater window to see the divers as they enter the water, There is a large spectator area, slightly higher, for a great view of Diving or Swimming. The best part is the decks around the entire pool and in the locker rooms, are heated.
I always joked with team mates that if the U.S. Government was gonna spend money.....they should spend it like this!
Like I said, I have never seen or heard of a pool like this in the entire U.S.
