On Thursday, the Wilmington Police Department (WPD) announced the arrest of Warren County resident Silas Shelton, who serves as a pastor at Blanchester Community Ministries in Clinton County.

Shelton is charged with rape, sexual battery, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and gross sexual imposition in Clinton County, police said.

Shelton spoke at a Little Miami Local School District meeting about the sale of the "Heartstopper" series at the district's Scholastic Book Fair in August 2023, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported. The books feature gay characters.

"I tell you, I got sick reading that stuff," Shelton said at the meeting, according to the outlet.
