3. And a lot of money

In this state of political reality, one cannot compete without a huge amount of money supplied by the elites who perpetuate the system based on hubris and narcissism. So billionaires decide who becomes a viable candidate and expect a return on their investments when that candidate is elected. It may take generations to correct this situation. Perhaps if there is a catastrophic event, this system may implode when the damage is blamed on those elites. I've always wondered why some billionaires don't get together and act more altruistically to elevate all members of society. How much is enough? We may reach a tipping point at which billionaires will realize that extreme income inequality and its resulting politics is bad for business and society at large because it lacks stability and social cohesion. And it will become increasingly impossible for them to believe that their great wealth can shield them from a dystopian hellscape of environmental collapse, chaos and war. So what if a candidate with the right kind of hubris is elected? Maybe one who has a messiah complex and wishes to heal the nation with a renewed sprit of genuine public service.
