Back at my last job, someone said to me "Happy Columbus Day!" and I replied, "No, you mean Happy Cultural Annihilation Day". I had to explain what Columbus did to the natives he found in the "new world", and it made her sick.

I have nothing against those of Italian decent. Or any other ethnic background. I'm a mix myself of mostly Scot and German ancestry, with a big chunk of a few native peoples, and if my sister's DNA results are to be believed, quite a bit of African blood.

But to me, I am just a human being. I am an American, because that's where I was born. I'm no better or worse than anyone else in this world. Okay, I'm way better than Trump and his MAGA clowns, but other people? Nah. We're all travelling this path together. We should be reaching out and helping, not trying to wipe people out or beat them down.
