2. Republicans don't need Democratic votes for this bill

Thursday

Thune could eliminate the filibuster with a simple majority, and pass the bill, within an hour or two if he wanted. Republicans want Democratic hands bloodied with this noxious vote. There is no reason for Democrats to go along with it.
