(14,546 posts)I used to live in Oxnard. Most of the pickers and farm.laborers from Central America are here on H2-A and others here on Humanitarian Amnesty Visas that allow.them to work.
There's thriving under the table visa based sub-contract labor businesses moving migrant and refugee farm and construction workers around - many of these businesses are run by people associated with Customs and Border Patrol, getting notified when one of those "caravans" come up through Mexico and meeting their contacts who had been recruiting likely seasonal workers that could easily qualify for a visa to work, if they hadn't already applied before the migration started.
The whole border problem is a scam of immense proportions.
Living in a border town, it's been obvious just observing the migration situation that a good 3/4 of "undocumented" border crossers or amnesty seekers have sponsors here in the US that will help them find housing and work once they get to the border and enter the system.
