When interviewed on TV she said he kept it secret as he didn't want to be the "butt" of jokes at the time and she bashed him for letting his ego stand in way of using the visit as a chance to educate the public on benefits of screening. Reportedly he didn't want to give Mike Pence temporary authority as Bush had done for his VP during procedure, so Trump did procedure with no anesthesia.
