(9,597 posts)After I saw Schumer on Chris Hayes tonight, I kind of understood what Schumer was saying about NOT wanting the government to shut down. He didn't explain it worth a shit (as usual), but when he said right now they're getting court rulings, but if the government shuts down, so would the courts! They have been our ONLY protection at the moment. But I'm trying to get every last social security check I possibly can before trump/musk shut down social security and we don't get anything! Me and about 75 million more Americans.
So it really is a choice between two disasters. But on this one, I'm with Schumer. Up until now, I've been on the "don't give them an inch on ANYTHING" team. But we can't afford to lose the courts right now, and a bunch of us, who are probably eventually going to lose our Social Security checks, can't afford to lose even one check. A shutdown would hurt worse than allowing the CR to go through.
