. . . In having important Republican figures support Harris. (Besides the obvious.) Those Republicans have a lot to lose if Trump finds a way to throw out the election results. Their presence in the Harris camp doesn't just bring in votes, it stabilizes a possibly precarious situation.

So, yes, I'd love to believe that they're in it for the "democracy", but there is a decidedly self-serving element as well. I almost trust them more when I factor in that point.
