11. I expect that they plan to overthrow the government when Trump doesn't win the election

and they need to sow enough seeds of doubt beforehand. If enough polls say it's very close then they get some plausible excuse, and maybe they have some plan to swing sympathy their way. Elon Musk appears to be all-in, so they likely have a pretty strong plan.

I think they know they're losing, there haven't been any undecided voters in a long time, and neither Trump nor Vance have any capacity to broaden the base or win new voters over.

I know that all sounds like a pretty out-there conspiracy theory, but it makes more sense than all these billionaires throwing their money at nothing and then walking away. Plus, it's what they've said they will do (though of course they word it differently).
