11. How do you think they could have "made" him give better answers?

Trump is a slippery customer, a very brazen bluffer and liar, and a master of derailing and distraction. I'm struggling to imagine how anyone could force him to give proper answers when he obviously doesn't want to.

I haven't seen the whole interview yet, just some brief clips, but it seemed to me that they were doing the best they (or really anyone) could. When he didn't want to answer, he went on the attack, criticizing things like the "tone" they were using. He obviously had no respect whatsoever for the women who were questioning him - and why would he, considering they were both black and female, two groups he holds in the lowest regard and regards as his inferiors.

When Trump interacts with black people and/or women, he expects subservience and deference. He does NOT expect them to challenge him in any way, and I'd bet money that he does not believe they have the right to ask him questions that make him uncomfortable, much less insist that he answer them.

I'm pretty sure those journalists were aware of all of that going in, and they knew that there would be no point in trying to pin him down beyond a certain point. Instead, they responded to his dodging and weaving in such a way that his refusal to honestly engage was made obvious to those watching and just kept going. In so doing, they gave him plenty of rope to hang himself with,, and I think he made pretty good use of it by putting on a full demonstration of what a rude, disrespectful, racist and misogynistic asshole he is.
