Jack Smith's gotten him to admit he burned evidence, and Smith's got ever so much more evidence that Meadows must admit to, and so had to cut a plea deal in return for KEY eye witness testimony on Trump. In addition to what he admitted on videotape in the GA case.
Smith wouldn't give immunity unless he got everything he needed to convict Trump.
