As someone who runs in very left Socialist circles, you're very incorrect in your definition which is a sweeping generalization. It specifically refers to Stalinist & ML ideals & is very pro-interventionism.

Many Socialists like myself are very anti-war & anti-violence.
It's literally a very different ideology than what many of us believe. And the term is a pejorative & slang for people who support rule via iron fist.

They are autocrats.
