It's part of common Neo Nazi dogma that is part of their holocaust denial, that the Jews exaggerate all the time and exaggerated the holocaust. Neo Nazis will tell you that the holocaust just didn't happen on the scale that is reported and that Jews inflated the numbers and the horrors in order to get people to feel sorry for them.

I think the last 20 years have seen the general public forget some common antisemetic themes and then people are taken aback when people flip out when they're using language that has long been considered antisemetic and that Jews recognize immediately because they've been hearing them from Neo Nazis and Klan members their whole lives.
