We know that the goal of the insurrectionists was to stop the certification of the vote by Pence.

On page 41, 116, and 117, Trump tweeted out messages about loving the insurrectionists.

119 says Trump tried to convince lawmakers to delay the certification.

120, when the WH counsel called Trump and asked him to “allow the certification,” Trump refused.

The attack on the Capitol delayed the obstruction for 6 hours, thanks to the efforts of the insurrectionists, who were aided by Trump trying to get lawmakers to delay the certification, and also by Trump refusing to instruct Pence to certify the vote.
