There is also a backlog even when you have everything perfectly in order... Current processing time for passports is 10-13 weeks, expedited is 7-9, also on the DOS website.
What I have learned lately is that I need to double check, triple check that I have everything perfectly filled out... especially for the more important, time sensitive things.

Why wouldn't they go back to the previous vendors that had already been vetted & had the equipment?
