(12,191 posts)Not for our current home but my mother-in-law's house, a dwelling left to us upon her death. We were receiving letters, postcards and calls even before we moved out of Tennessee and moved temporarily into the house, a 19-month way-stop until finding a home in Delaware.
Because the house is old (late 30s, early 40s) with no mortgage (also few conveniences), I assumed these outreaches were from investment/flipping companies looking to pick up the house cheap to turn a quick profit.
Once we're reasonably settled in our current house, we'll turn our attention back to the PA home--cleaning it out, doing very basic repairs and put it up for sale. If we have trouble selling the place, we might turn to one of the cash buyers (they're all over the place anymore) and see what they offer. I sense we'll need to be careful.
Lots of scammers out there!
Btw, we've also received similar cash-buy offers on our younger son's home. Which drives him crazy. We're not on the mortgage, have no connection to the property other than sharing the same last name.
Strange.
