1. That is MLK Day

interestingly enough.

Many caucuses are held in schools. In 2004 the Democrats (maybe the Rs too) had their caucus on MLK day - I think the date had been hastily arranged so Iowa would be first. Anyway, the custodian at the school where my caucus was, had to be paid overtime for working on a holiday. I was happy to contribute to that, so the party wouldn't have to use regular funds for that.

But the Rs may just hold theirs in churches, the Dems will probably go more for schools or other pubic venues.
