(5,142 posts)He will be also charged in relation to the classified documents case in DC at a minimum. I've heard mention there may be as many as six in the pipeline. The next most likely would be in New Jersey (home of Trump National in Bedminister NJ.)
The other classified documents cases don't involve J6 which is hugely complicated and involves dozens (hundreds?) of participants so the trial would take much longer in court and be much more difficult for the average citizen to grasp. Smith won't go ahead with J6 until he has it nailed down as thoroughly as he has the case that starts today.
I'd be shocked to learn Trump didn't sell top secret documents that endanger national security and may have resulted in the deaths of CIA agents or their sources.
I think Jack Smith may be releasing documents related charges a little at a time to allow the American people to get acclimated to the idea of the most serious crimes Trump committed. (Only my opinion). We here at DU would have no problem believing he sold secrets but the majority of citizens are probably not at that point yet.
The south Florida case should be a slam dunk and could get him a maximum of 400 years in prison. So that would take him out of circulation until the other cases can get going.
Make sure you stock up on popcorn. It could be scarce in stores for a while.
