20. My spouse and I will have monthly Medicare premiums of about $600 per month

Part B $165, Medigap policy about $100, Part D prescriptions about $30, total about $300 per person per month. No dental, no vision, no hearing, and some prescription drugs are still very expensive even with the plans.

Some people go on Medicare Advantage since they just can't afford that. They don't have to pay any premium beyond the Part B $165 and they get modest dental, vision and hearing coverage. Problem being their claims are paid by a private insurer with a limited PPO or HMO network. Treatment can require referrals and be delayed, plus doctors and hospitals are limited. I saw a study that indicates people on Advantage are 1.5 to 2 times as likely to die of cancer as opposed to those on original Medicare.
