If you don't show up for work, you shouldn't be paid. None of them need the money anyway... not that that should matter.

I'd bet that even Moscow Mitch was paid even though he missed a chunk of time from the US Senate. And Senators make decent money, so we're talking a material amount for not showing up for work (although I hesitate to consider being a Senator as "work"!).
