Pence gives the prosecution Trump's state of mind, his criminal intent.

Mark Meadows would be another similar witness.

The J6 committee understood this early on, it tried to subpoena both Meadows and Pence but it didn't have the legal clout that DOJ has.

The J6 committee did get a lot of evidence from Meadows voluntarily until Trump shut off the spigot.
