KY-GOV: No coordination, says Kelly Craft (R) of $1.5 million gift from husband's trust to PAC [View all]
LOUISVILLE Republican candidate for governor Kelly Craft said the $7 million she has loaned her campaign shows shes all in while saying theres no coordination between her campaign and the $1.5 million her husband Joe Crafts trust has given to a super PAC promoting her election.
Kentucky law prohibits coordination between a candidates campaign and groups making independent expenditures, such as Commonwealth PAC, which is supporting Kelly Craft. Joe Craft, a coal company executive, is frequently described in media reports as a billionaire.
I dont coordinate with my PAC, the candidate told reporters after a gubernatorial debate in Louisville Wednesday. I dont coordinate at all. And what Ive been focused on is criss-crossing this state and meeting as many Kentuckians as possible.
I have made it very clear. I am all in and Im going to go all out because this is not about me, Craft said. And what matters is what happens right now, today. We have to focus on defeating Andy Beshear because Im going to set the bar high for this state. Im tired of being in the lower 10. Were going to be in the top 10 with Kelly Craft as governor.
Tuesday was the deadline for statewide candidates to file campaign finance reports with the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance.
