He and Kim exchanged beautiful love letters and fell in love. It's therefore unsurprising that when the former guy walked from South into North Korea to do his obeisance to Kim, he'd gaze into Kim's eyes like that. I mean, the former guy doesn't even walk on his golf courses! But he walked across the border to see Kim.
