who was telling students at that conservative Presbyterian college that they didn't need to take cautions against AIDS (yes, it was long ago)

I pointedly asked him if he had ANY experience or training in epidemiology, which by admissioin he said he did not.

SO I said to him that, before his loose lips put the campus I worked at into increased danger by spreading disinformation that confused the notion of a small campus prevalence rate with Iowa's overall average community incidence rates, he should probably spend 20-40 hours reading about the epidemiology of sexually and drug related transmission of disease.

The student council charged me with 'violent' mistreatment of a guest to campus. I never raised my voice heigher than needed to be heard in an auditorium when I didn't have a microphone and PA system

I had thought I was arguing for their safety. Yet, they felt that -I- was unduly trying to scare them, while the lying speaker was comforting them of their AIDS anxiety.
