11. The only problem with that is - there are still too many

Americans who subscribe - in too many cases FIERCELY subscribe - to that old bullshit. And they won’t let go.

Some of them will see this and pump fists with an in-yer-face, cockeyed, almost irrational pride. Old grievances and obsolete positioning die hard. VERY hard. There are some in this country who will “go down with the ship” out of sheer spite and a messed-up sense of entitlement and grievance. And there’s that bad old dynamic in play, too: nobody likes to admit they were wrong. And a fair amount of people just won’t admit or concede that, period.
