Isn't McCarthy pretty safe from a motion to vacate unless Dems vote to remove him too? [View all]

Considering 90% of Republicans were with McCarthy all along without a struggle, I doubt many Republicans would join in to oust him just because he does something "outrageous" (in the minds of the Chaos Caucus) like allowing the debt ceiling to be raised with the help of Democrats.

I don't see anything Democrats would have to gain by joining in with the temper tantrum brigade, unless a real possibility for a more moderate, less compromised Speaker existed.

218 votes are needed to oust the Speaker. I'm now thinking McCarthy's position is a lot more secure than I'd been imagining before. Am I missing something?
