7. Barnes was arguably our most disappointing candidate this cycle.

Not pleased with him and his campaign at all.

I fear that this was another Gillum in FL situation, where we could have won had we picked a candidate that appealed to a broader base of voters. Barnes's competitors in the primary basically cleared the field for him so as to prevent a divisive and bitter fight and it looks like it cost us.

I consider myself a progressive -- but more a progressive that sees our best chance to actually make progress is by smaller and incremental steps rather than immediate and jarring change (which almost never comes anyway, and if it does come, it often comes with a severe backlash) -- and while I think it's fine to run stronger and more aggressive progressives in bluer areas, Wisconsin, sadly, is not what I would consider a bluer area right now.

A more moderate and sensible candidate (THAT WAS ACTUALLY GOOD AT CAMPAIGNING) would have probably thrashed the extremist and exceedingly crazy Johnson. He was an incumbent so it would be tough, but extremist Republicans were getting destroyed left and right yesterday in swing districts/states. I feel the reason that didn't happen in this Wisconsin Senate race is because we put forth a candidate that was severely lacking.
