18. Indeed.

I watch everything I eat to keep my carb counts low. There is no binging on chips and salsa or popcorn or sugar sweets for me.

Even if I take into account the carbs, some of them do more to spike my blood sugar than others. Some of them do it so badly, I've had to cut them out of my diet entirely. Like rice. And watermelon.

So if I want some sweet potatoes, or 1/2 of a medium banana, I have to decide to cut veggies that don't spike my sugar as much. Usually, I simply don't eat sweet potatoes or bananas. But with my allergies, the range of foods I can eat is already much shorter than that of most people. So sometimes I do the juggling, to get the variety in my diet.

It's a constant and exhausting balancing act.
