The special prosecutor appointed to review broad allegations of possible criminal conduct by the Republican candidate for Michigan attorney general and eight others who sought to undermine the results of the 2020 election says more investigative work is needed before a decision can be made on bringing charges.
In a statement, Muskegon County Prosecutor DJ Hilson declined to say if his decision on whether to criminally charge GOP attorney general hopeful Matthew DePerno or others allegedly involved in the election-related scheme would come before or after the Nov. 8 General Election. [snip]
In early August, the office of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced it would seek the appointment of a special prosecutor to review broad allegations of criminal wrongdoing by DePerno, state Rep. Daire Rendon, R-Lake City, Barry County Sheriff Dar Leaf, and six others. DePerno and the others are accused of illegally accessing voting machines from small municipalities across the state, according to documents released publicly by Nessel's office. [snip]
According to documents from Nessel's office, several people − including DePerno − are also accused of either illegally tampering with voting machines or being present when others "broke into the tabulators." Additional people accused of misconduct in the request for a special prosecutor include Stefanie Lambert Juntilla, Ann Howard, Ben Cotton, Jeff Lenberg, Douglas Logan and James Penrose.
