2. The proper way to cover liars is to report *that* they lied.

The story, if there is one at all, is that they lied. What their lie was may or may not be part of the story; but if it is, it should not be the headline or in the first paragraph.

As a small example, "tens of thousands at rally, trump says" is a horrible headline. "Trump exaggerates crowd size" is the story. The specific claim of tens of thousands should be around paragraph 8, also followed by a clear statement that photos and tickets indicate far fewer.


Simply repeating what they say is merely amplifying propaganda.
