4. The US has emitted more carbon than any country, by far

Because they're late to the party, only overtaking the US in the last decade or two, while we're been burning coal and oil for 150 years at a prodigious rate.

China's CURRENT rate of carbon emissions is important to address, but it's being used in part by some to deflect attention away from the damage the US has already done for over a century.
