Where William Miller of the Millterite Church told his followers in the 1840s that the world was ending, and they would be swept up into Heaven on a certain date. When it didn't happen, he redid his math and came up with a later date, and his followers believed him again. After that the church splintered, and one shard led to the 7th Day Adventists.
