(155,317 posts)Briefly, what happened:
Friday noon: got the second Shingrix vaccine. Within minutes started to feel odd, off balance. Thought nothing of it.
Friday night: Shaking chills, felt lousy. Cold hands. Early (for me!) bedtime. Just after 10 pm.
Saturday: Little appetite. Taking it easy. Long nap in afternoon. Major change: could hardly get up from my daybed. Much weakness, esp. in my right leg. Finally got up to use the bathroom. Needed help standing up in there. My husband went to get my walker, and while he was gone, and I was standing up, though weakly...Suddenly my right leg refused to hold me up and I collapsed on the BR floor.
He called the paramedics; they came. Got me up, took vital signs and checked me out. Told them what was happening. Odd reaction between the Shingrix vaccination and symptoms of a stroke. Off to the hospital.
I was admitted just before midnight, June 5th.
The doctors were so puzzled. Many neuro tests, cardiac tests, scans, MRI, were done. Everything was normal. What might have happened? Perhaps a minor stroke, like a TIA. There was absolutely no sign of any problem in any of the scans or tests. Weird.
I came home yesterday afternoon, around 5 pm, local time. Tired but feeling OK. Prognosis is good.
Thank you all so much!
