We all paid the armorer $1.00 a month to keep our rifles in tip-top condition. I only handled mine once, when I was in the honor guard at the change of command from LTG Larsen to LTG Rosson.
We all had .45's in our desks at work, though, just in case. The 5th Special Forces HQ was very close by, and so was the Korean (ROK) HQ. Needless to say, we never needed to use the .45's.
