When truth, science based or any other, doesn't serve one's politics, competent minds adjust their politics to reality. And some on both right and left can't, or won't. The more so, the more they're like each other.

Btw, this commonality enabled "commies" and Nazis to woo each other's followers a century ago, as happened with some among Bernie Sanders' and tRump's more recent LW and RW populist movements.
